McCrometer’s advanced V-Cone flowmeters, suitable for offshore production applications from the bottom of the sea floor to platforms placed in severe environments, will be on show at OTC 2011.

Featuring advanced differential-pressure (DP) technology, the V-Cone flowmeter and scalable Wafer-Cone flowmeter are claimed to provide excellent flow measurement accuracy and repeatability regardless of fluid dynamics.

Third-party testing to the American Petroleum Institute’s API 22.2 Testing Protocol for Differential Pressure Flow Devices proves the V-Cone’s accurate flow measurement with minimal pipe runs, according to the company.

The V-Cone is also available with international certifications such as Measurement Canada and Inmetro.

McCrometer, which will be found in Booth 9,457, will showcase hands-on demo flowmeters, video tutorials, the Oil/Gas Resource Guide CD and complementary flowmeter evaluations.

The V-Cone, with built-in flow conditioning, is claimed to reduce the upstream/downstream straight pipe run required by orifice plates and Venturi tubes by up to 70 per cent.

This reduction in pipe requirements adds up to cost savings in materials and installation labour, reducing FPSO vessel tonnage and the footprint of subsea modules.

Using less pipe and reducing total weight also simplifies vessel balancing, making it easier to find the optimal location for flowmeter installation.

The V-Cone provides a stable flow profile for reliable measurement, featuring an accuracy of +/-0.5 per cent of actual flow and a repeatability of +/-0.1 per cent over the entire range.

It is said to be ideal for the measurement of liquid, steam or gas and is available for line sizes from 0.5in to 120in, with a 10:1 turndown ratio.

A no-moving-parts design makes it a rugged instrument.

The scalable Wafer-Cone flowmeter is said to be ideal for small line processes in line sizes from 1in to 6in for onshore well-head measurement for coal bed methane, coal seam gas and oil sands applications.

It can be installed virtually anywhere in a piping system or be retrofitted into an existing piping layout, resulting in installation flexibility and new installation initial cost savings.

The Wafer-Cone flowmeter achieves an accuracy of +1.0 per cent, with a repeatability of +0.1 per cent, and operates over a flow range of 10:1.
