A food and drink manufacturer is using a peel-testing device from Mecmesin to reduce wastage resulting from seal adhesive defects and to provide its customers with safe, well-sealed products at minimum cost.

The manufacturer purchased the Mecmesin Multitest 1-i device because it needed to test the laminated retort packaging films that protect products such as its microwaveable stir-in pots.

It needed to run peel tests to determine the tensile strength of pre-cut retort foils, the peel performance of finished packaging and the compliance of tensile and peel performance with in-house specifications.

The Mecmesin computer-controlled test device is fitted with a custom-designed pull-peel table. The device uses the company’s Emperor force testing software running on a PC to record and display the performance of the sample during the test.
