Meco will be showing its shaft seals for rotating process machinery on booth 302 at the International Biomass Conference and Expo, from 4-6 May 2010 at the Minneapolis Convention Center.

Meco offers seal models designed to help processors to maintain an aseptic environment inside process vessels.

Meco shaft seals stop solid, liquid and/or vapour leakage on screw conveyors, extractors, reactors, dryers, blenders and other rotating bulk process machinery.

Meco seals provide an alternative to packed glands, lip seals or v-rings.

The company’s seal designs accommodate 1/4in/6mm and more of diametric shaft run-out and are available fully split to retrofit on new or existing machinery.

Operator-adjustable seals can often be adjusted while machinery continues to run; self-adjusting seals are also available.

Seal performance is said to be reliable, with long runtime between rebuilds, even in applications with bent or damaged shafts.

In the oilseed extraction industry, Meco said that its custom shaft seals are effective in reducing solvent vapour loss from rotating extractor drive shafts, resulting in local solvent concentrations of 100ppm or less.

MECO seals are used worldwide on slow-turning dry powder and bulk processing equipment, including mixers, blenders, conveyors, dryers, bucket elevators, grinders and agitators.MECO is the original high-runout seal for such equipment and remains the leader in the field.Industries served include chemical, food, pharmaceutical, mineral, plastics, primary metals and pulp & paper.

An extensive distributor network provides hands-on support with shaft measurement, installation and rebuilding of MECO seals.MECO engineers provide telephone consultation and trouble-shooting for sealing problems of all sorts; service engineers are available for on-site visits.

MECO seals are available factory-installed on better machinery, as retrofits through its distributor network or directly from Woodex Bearing Company. An application data webform is available on the MECO website to submit the data required for a free, specific quotation.
