Clamason Industries, which makes pressed-metal components for medical devices, will exhibit its products at the Medilink West Midlands umbrella stand at Medtec UK 2009.

Clamason’s components include the indexing washer (with associated tooling), which allows the user to accurately dial and dispense the correct dose of insulin on the Solostar insulin pen.

Clamason’s other products range from complex drug-delivery device assemblies to joint-replacement components, from electric scalpels to disposable surgical instruments such as single-use hip reamers.

Clamason also offers metal pressings as alternatives to plastic ones: these remove the problems of shrinkage, joint line and RFI / EMI shielding problems and degradation.

Plastics are hydroscopic (absorb water) and are gradually getting more expensive because of their oil content.

Clamason’s metal stampings are also recyclable in more than 95 per cent of cases.

Clamason parts are process-validated using DQ, IQ, OQ and PQ protocols.

Its team is trained in URS, CAPA and GMP compliant with US FDA 21 CFR Part 820.

The Clamason Metrology Department employs quality-assurance technology to ensure zero-defect production, including a Simac Masic 3D real-time vision system, a Nikon Nexiv 3020 non-contact, CNC video measuring system and a Brown and Sharpe Mistral slant-bridge, CNC co-ordinate-measuring machine with Renishaw probe.
