Loma Systems has upgraded its IQ3 metal detector for the food processing industry with the addition of a global dual-line display panel to enhance the flexibility and functionality of the controls.

The control panel is multilingual and is universal across all countries.

The panel supports a range of languages and is therefore suitable for any food processor with a multi-cultural workforce.

The dual-line panel has been designed to ensure that the operator can easily and quickly identify that the machine is inspecting the correct product.

This eliminates the wrong product being inspected.

Other key functions are always visible, such as threshold and product signal, which can be viewed simultaneously without pressing any additional buttons.

The display also has a status indicator that provides a quick visual indication of the operating conditions of the machine by using the ‘traffic light’ red, yellow and green indicators.

Additionally, if a button is active it is illuminated to help guide the operator.

This makes setting up the metal detector and product changeover simple.

The display features a key-lock option, which can be enabled to prevent unauthorised access and use of the machine.

Four access levels have been added so some functions are only available to key personnel.

The universal display also means that Loma can supply its metal detector heads and conveyors in ultra quick time as more parts become universal across the world.

For customers who already have a Loma IQ3, the global dual-line display can be retrofitted if required so giving increased functionality to existing installations.

If the unit is being fitted as an upgrade, line operators have the advantage of not having to learn all the technical details of a new machine.

The unit can be fitted by qualified Loma engineers between shift patterns so there would be minimal downtime.

Loma’s variable frequency technology allows the metal detector to be configured to automatically select the correct frequency for each item during the product calibration.

This reduces the possibility of operator error, therefore reducing product wastage and recall costs.
