The Thermometer CSmicro from Micro-Epsilon is a non-contact infrared temperature sensor designed for installation where space is restricted. The sensor utilises a small sensor head with compact electronics fully integrated into the sensor cable and is suitable for OEM and medium- to high-volume applications.

An integrated LED allows for quick health checking of the system. It can be used for alarm indication, intelligent sighting support, self-diagnostic functions or showing the current measured temperature value without the need to look at the serial or analogue output.

Four models are available, covering a temperature range from -20°C to +1,030°C. The series can withstand ambient temperatures of up to 120°C without requiring any cooling. Temperature resolution is 0.1°C with optional resolutions of 2:1 and 15:1.

The CSmicro is also available as a two-wire, loop-powered version. The signal is output via a current output and the temperature range is from -40°C to +1,030°C. The high-sensitivity version provides a resolution of 0.025°C over the range -20°C to +150°C.

A short-wavelength model is also available for temperatures of up to 1,600°C. This version is particularly suitable for measurements in secondary metal processes.

  • The CSmicro series is currently in use on a tactile reference system (sensotact-scale), which assesses the tactile quality of a surface.
  • The manufacturer required a non-contact temperature sensor with a small sensor head, miniature electronics, a small laser spot size, low power consumption and high-speed measurement capability.
  • By integrating a CSmicro into the system, precise measurements can be recorded without time-consuming studies being carried out by inspectors.
  • Temperature measurements are now exact and do not depend on the transparency, gloss or colour of the target material.
