Micro-Epsilon’s Scancontrol 2710 series 2D/3D laser profile sensors are designed to measure the key and slot joints on sectional garage doors and on parquet and laminate flooring.

Door sections are opened and closed frequently and so a robust but permanently flexible key and slot joint is required. This is said to be particularly important where there are significant temperature fluctuations or inaccurate dimensions, which could result in the door being positioned incorrectly, making it difficult to lock.

The Scancontrol 2710-50 laser profile scanner can be used to measure the key and slot joints and its output unit enables the measurement data to be translated into the format required by the customer.

A datum point, to which all calculations and measurements are performed, is defined within the profile. These results are transmitted to the production line control room so that any deviations within the strip process can be compensated for.

Key benefits

  • The Scancontrol 2710 series is particularly suitable for industrial automation tasks, including robotics and machine building, where space is often restricted.
  • Its compact design, integrated controller and easy-to-use setup software enable users to quickly mount the sensor onto robot arms, onto inspection equipment or into their production lines.
  • Using the integrated controller, the sensor can acquire data, calculate profiles and generate measured values for the complete field of measurement at high speed (64,000 points/100 profiles per second) and full resolution.
  • The user does not require any other components to evaluate the measurement data (no PC or special programming software is required) and the unit can be easily reconfigured and adapted for different applications.
  • The sensor uses a CMOS array with a real-time, high-speed electronic shutter (rather than conventional rolling shutters), which captures the entire profile and processes the information instantaneously.

With over 45 years experience and more than 15,000 customers worldwide, Micro-Epsilon understands the need for accurate, robust, intelligent sensors and measurement systems.

If you are measuring any type of displacement / position, temperature, speed or colour parameters, Micro-Epsilon sensors and systems provide market-leading performance, together with the fastest measuring rates, highest operating temperature ranges and smart interface capabilities. From simple, low cost sensors to high volume, customer-specific OEM solutions, Micro-Epsilon will have athe correct measurement solution for your application.

Using both contact and non-contact measurement techniques, Micro-Epsilon boasts one of the largest ranges of displacement sensors including 1D, 2D & 3D laser optical, confocal chromatic, eddy current, capacitive, inductive, draw-wire and time-of-flight technologies. Measuring ranges are from nanometers to kilometers!

For temperature measurement, there is a comprehensive range of non-contact infrared temperature sensors and thermal imaging cameras capable of measuring up to that include intelligent software packages to support configuration, analysis and management during the application. LED analysers, fibre optic sensors and Colour recognition sensors measure true colour using L*A*B and CIE.

Micro-Epsilon sensors are used throughout almost all industries: from automotive to aerospace, motorsport to metal production, semiconductor to subsea. Whether it’s an R&D, test, inspection, OEM or a process control application, Micro Epsilon measurement engineers can provide the right measurement solution.
