The contact-free optical measuring principle behind Mahr’s Marvision MM 320 measuring microscope is relevant to the inspection of objects that may be easily damaged or deformed.

As well as opening up possibilities when inspecting ‘elastic’ materials, Mahr’s measuring microscopes are designed to speed up the measuring process.

For example, a red laser beam enables the correct measuring position on the table to be found and set with ease.

Objects with several features can be located precisely on the measuring table, without the need for winding.

Depending on the requirement, the MM 320 can be supplied as a manually-operated 2D microscope or as a three-axis measuring system with automatic edge recognition.

The measurement uncertainty is (3+L/100) micron (when L is measured in mm), although this does depend on the precision of the magnification used.

As standard, the MM 320 is fitted with a zoom lens with a 15x to 95x magnification range, with options to half or double this range.

A self-explanatory user interface on the high-resolution display of the associated Quadra-Chek 300 measurement computer, which can be operated in touch-screen mode, allows the user to access a wide range of measurement functions.

Every feature of a complex workpiece can be inspected, and highly accurate and reproducible measurements linked by the computer to obtain chain dimensioning, intersections points and other geometric parameters.

Numerical values are then listed or displayed graphically on the colour screen.

Measurement sequences that need to be repeated on a regular basis, once completed, can subsequently be carried out by users lacking detailed programming knowledge.

The system is also capable of documenting and processing measurement data.

Video images can be saved in jpg format at any time, and measurement protocols, measurement programs and images can be exported via a USB interface or printed out if required.

Measurement data relating to distance, form, angle or radii can be evaluated statistically for quality assurance purposes and, by means of the traceable calibration standard, contribute to maintaining the specified production quality.

Various accessories such as prisms, bench vices or swivelling glass plates for angle measuring applications enable the MM 320 to be adapted to different measurement tasks.

These include checking goods-in for conformance and first-off inspections in the workshop of components or workpieces weighing up to 15kg that fit within the microscope’s 150mm x 100mm x 60mm measuring envelope.
