GYS has launched an MMA inverter-based welding machine with microprocessor control that is able to weld at 160A on a standard 13A fused plug and can weld 4mm diameter basic or rutile electrodes.

The Gysmi 195 PFC has been specifically designed to weld mild steel, stainless steel and cast iron found in general welding and fabrication work, the DIY and hire markets, general workshop maintenance as well as on site, including agricultural applications.

It is rated 160A at 85 per cent duty cycle for normal use at 20C.

The main feature of this machine is that it is fitted with an advanced PFC (power factor correction) device, which allows it to pull more energy from the plug without blowing the 13A fuse, as well as automatically compensating for any current losses and variations (+/-15 per cent) created by a generator’s performance or when extra-long extension cables are being used.

Other features include arc characteristics, adjustable hot start, adjustable arc force for improved penetration and to avoid electrode sticking, plus an air cooling system that draws clean air through the back of the machine, reducing dust and dirt contamination.

It also has IP23 protection rating for outside use.

It can be used for TIG welding and has a lift arc function for easy-to-start TIG welding, while preventing tungsten inclusions, plus an adjustable arc down slope function that automatically releases the torch at the end of the weld.

It has digital control panels and is supplied with a carry case, electrode holder and welding cable.

TIG torch kits are available as an option.
