DFI has introduced a MicroATX form factor motherboard – the CP330-NRM – designed to ensure high performance at reduced power consumption in embedded processing applications.

This industrial motherboard is ideal for applications requiring a stable revision-controlled platform, including gaming, DVR/NVR, point-of-sake/kiosk, retail, transaction solutions, and industrial automation equipment embedded applications.

The embedded board incorporates the latest two-chip platform using a Mobile Intel QM57 Express chipset supporting Intel Core i7-620M (SV), Intel Core i5-520M (SV), and Intel Celeron P4500 (SV) processors.

These 64-bit, multi-core processors are built on 32nm process technology and integrate the memory controller into the processor, which helps to reduce the footprint and simplify the architecture and graphics core on-die, eliminating the need for both a Northbridge and Southbridge interface chip used in previous platforms.

Placing the memory controller and graphics core on the processor die provides a tightly coupled, two-chip system architecture, with resulting higher performance as well as board real estate savings and lower power than previous three-chip platform.

Additionally, developers can utilise one board design and scale their product line with a wide performance-range of processors using the same socket.

In addition, this platform includes Intel Hyper-Threading and Intel Turbo Boost Technology, which enables each processor core to handle two instruction threads and increase performance by more than 50 per cent when all cores are not fully utilised with industry leading performance capabilities.

An enhanced three-level cache subsystems utilises a first level instruction cache (FLC) and mid-level cache (MLC) on a per-core basis, with a large last level shared cache with controls to minimise snoop activity.

The combination of hyper-threading with the three-level cache subsystem insures higher performance at reduced power consumption across a broad spectrum of embedded processing applications.

Support is provided for up to 8GB of DDR3 800/1066 MHz dual-channel system memory, two PCI Express Gigabit LAN controllers, Integrated Trusted Platform Module (TPM 1.2) option, and Intel Active Management Technology (Intel AMT 6.0) with KVM (keyboard-video-mouse) redirection allowing remote system management.

The integrated Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD supports high-definition 2D and 3D video graphics using VGA, DVI and 24-bit LVDS interfaces providing dual-independent display capability with improved graphics performance for intensive multimedia applications.

Additional features include six serial ATA ports with speed up to 3Gb/s, Raid 0, 1, 5 and 10 drive support, 12 USB 2.0/1.1 ports, four serial COM ports and two-channel analogue audio support with High-Definition digital audio S/PDIF input/output interface.

This embedded MicroATX motherboard provides expansion using one Compactflash socket, one PCI Express x 16 slot, one PCI Express x4 slot, and one PCI slot.
