RDP Electronics supplies a range of MTS Temposonics sensors that are suitable for measuring the position of actuators.

The RDP Temposonics-RD4 sensors, for example, have been designed for installation into hydraulic cylinders and are suitable for clevis head cylinders or any space-restricted application.

The magnetostrictive principle utilised by the Temposonics transducers makes them suitable for installing inside the piston rod of a hydraulic cylinder.

The strength of the LVDT is in its principle of operation. As LVDT sensors are inductive, there is no electrical connection across the sensing element ensuring clean data and a long life.

The LVDT operation principle lends itself to use in extreme environments. LVDTs can be made to work submerged in sea water, in temperatures of 600°C (1100°F) in high nuclear ratiation and at pressures of up to 2000bar (30,000psi).
