RDP Electronics is offering a flexible multi-position sensor that is suitable for installation into cylinders for continuous operation in harsh industrial locations. Typical applications include measuring the displacement of hydraulic cylinders.

The Rod Model RF Tempsonics sensor has a measuring range of up to 20m and is able to measure non-linear paths, such as those around an arc with a bend radius of up to 250mm. It can also measure more complex shapes.

The sensing element is contained in a coated stainless steel housing and, when required, the sensor can be replaced without the need to remove the hydraulic cylinder in many cases.

The Model RF is offered with a measuring range of 100mm to 20,000mm. Output options include analogue, SSI, CANBus, Profibus-DP and EtherCAT.
