IFM Electronic has launched a 2D and standard barcode reader and verifier that can be used for code reading and verifying a correct code.

Able to handle a score of barcodes and 2D codes such as ECC200 datamatrix or PDF-417, the O2I series multicode readers are already finding uses in industries such as automotive, packaging and pharmaceutical.

Up to 10 codes in the field of view at any one time, at any orientation, will be found and read by the O2I and the code content transmitted by Ethernet or RS232 back to the control system.

The interface software for set-up is easy to follow and is freely downloadable from IFM Electronic’s website.

Equally simple is the ‘point-and-shoot’ installation thanks to the built-in laser pointer.

Available with three different lenses for fields of view ranging from 20 x 14mm operating at 50mm distance right up to 400 x 300mm at 2m the O2I series is a useful addition to the automation engineer’s palette.

The O2I is designed for industrial usage.

With its robust metal housing and industry standard connectors, the O2I can be installed using high-quality stainless-steel mounting sets.

Illumination is integrated, but external lighting can also be used if the application demands it.

The O2I series is capable of reading or verifying some of the most complex dot-peened codes under difficult circumstances, such as shiny surfaces.
