Regional manufacturers and engineers are invited to an event dedicated to ‘advances in machining’, which is being held at the Mid Yorkshire Golf Club in Pontefract on 27 January 2011.

The conference, which is being organised by AEM Yorkshire in conjunction with NAMTEC (National Metals Technology Centre), will feature some of the leading figures in machining and advanced engineering and materials, such as Gregor Kappmeyer, global head of machining at Rolls-Royce, and Mark Wilson, head of manufacturing technology at BAE Systems.

They and other manufacturers will share their expertise in a bid to further enhance the competitiveness of the UK in this area on a national and international scale.

Speakers at the event will present on the subject of machining technology and innovations in working with machine alloys and other materials, including a focus on materials that are often difficult to work with.

The event will be supported by RWE Npower, with the company giving delegates the opportunity to take a tour of its nearby facilities.

This will provide an insight into the manufacture and refurbishment of large components, both for the power-generation industry and for other sectors.
