New Vishay GBS Series Vitreous Resistors for high continuous power dissipation

By TTI Europe on 22nd March 2018

Product Details Supplier Info More products

Dissipation up to 1000W; high pulse power capability; suit multiple applications including railway heating elements; DC-Link capacitors; load bank for continuous power and others

Vishay’s new GBS Series Vitreous Resistors with Corrugated Ribbon can now be sourced in Europe through TTI, Inc., a world-leading specialist distributor of electronic components. The GBS Series of vitreous wirewound resistors boasts a completely welded construction and can be used to provide high continuous power dissipation up to 1000W.   High pulse power capability makes the devices an ideal choice for inrush limiters. Designed for harsh environments, GBS Series Vitreous Resistors are extremely robust and offer an exceptional lifetime of more than 20 years. Within the GBS Series, an adjustable type (E) is also available.

Features include a high power rating of up to 100W.  With different corrugated ribbons and turn spacings, low ohmic values of < 1 Ohm can be offered.  Thanks to the vitreous coating on the GBS Series, they are stable over an extended lifetime, and boast enhanced humidy protection. The coating is also resistant to all cleaning chemicals commonly used in the electronics industry.

Typical applications for the GBS Series includes heating elements in railway applications, inrush current limiter for DC-Link capacitors; braking resistors for drive systems, chopper resistor for large drives; load bank for continuous power applications, filter resistor, drive systems, power supplies, frequency inverters, AC filters and snubber resistors.  Due to having corrugated ribbon, the devices can also be used as heating elements in other applications.
