Newport has released the 1830-R optical power meter, which is designed to provide a ‘drop-in’ replacement for its legacy 1830-C power meter that has been used to produce and test fibre-optic components.

The DC power measurements can be viewed in the seven-segment, back-lit LED display, where units of W, dBm, dB and relative measurement can be displayed in the four-and-a-half digit, wide-angle view.

It is designed to provide a wide dynamic range, with power sensitivities down to 10pW and full-scale readings up to 2W (detector dependent).

CE and RoHS compliant, the ultraviolet (UV), silicon (Si), germanium (Ge) or indium gallium arsenide (InGaAs) detectors operate in the 200-1,800nm wavelengths.
