Norton, a Saint-Gobain Abrasives brand, has launched a product expansion programme for the metal fabricating industry along with a new print and online abrasives catalogue.

The catalogue includes a range of products, applications and selection information to help metal fabricating end users and distributors to optimise their abrasive operations.

In addition, various Norton- and Merit-brand products will be showcased at Fabtech, an event targeted at the metal fabricating industry, on 2-4 November 2010 in Atlanta, Georgia.

At the show, Norton will demonstrate right-angle grinders, random orbital sanders, pneumatic die grinders and large-diameter cut-off machines.

Norton- and Merit-brand abrasives for right-angle grinding applications will initially be introduced.

Products will include a new flap disc and fibre disc offering in the Norton SG Blaze Plus, Norzon Bluefire and Merit Metal line.

Norton and Merit flap discs are engineered for applications including stock removal, blending and finishing all with one wheel.

The fibre discs feature a full resin bond system with heavy-duty fibre backing for increased strength, durability and tear resistance.

Norton will also be expanding its product offerings within the depressed centre wheels category for right-angle grinding and cut-off applications.

The Norton line of depressed centre grinding, notching and Rightcut wheels features products for every right-angle grinder application: the Norzon Plus provides excellent cut rate and wheel life; the Charger Plus gives a good performance/price combination; and Gemini’s aluminium oxide delivers performance at a competitive price level.

A range of non-woven depressed centre wheels and discs will also be showcased, suitable for expanding the applications of the right-angle grinder into the cleaning, finishing and polishing categories.
