Saint-Gobain Abrasives has introduced the Rapid Prep range of surface-conditioning discs under the Norton brand. Norton Rapid Prep discs are suitable for surface-finishing applications such as removing surface defects, oxides and corrosion, de-burring, mould cleaning and blending uneven edges and marks in industries including aerospace, transportation, energy and metal fabrication.

The discs are made of non-woven nylon impregnated with abrasive grain and smear-free resin.

Norton Rapid Prep products are designed for use with right-angle grinders, in-line grinders and die grinders. They feature an open structure that resists loading on softer materials such as aluminium and provides good surface finishing on hard materials such as cast iron, steel, nickel and alloys.

Key benefits

  • Vortex grain technology delivers four times the performance of available surface-finishing products on the market.
  • The technology delivers continuous cutting on soft and hard materials.
  • Norton Rapid Prep is said to be ideal for all de-burring and blending applications.
