OMICRON-MBB1

Omicron announces the release of its new MBB1 measurement balanced bridge accessory. Used together with Omicron’s MPD 600 partial discharge (PD) measurement and analysis system, the MBB1 performs differential PD measurements as recommended by the IEC 60270 standard. This ensures reliable PD measurements in test environments with heavy interference.

PD measurement is an important tool for assessing the condition of insulation during the de-velopment and service of high-voltage assets. The level of external disturbances must be low for reliable measurement accuracy. To achieve this, the MBB1 contains a bridge-type circuit that combines and weighs the PD signals of two measurement impedances. This reduces dis-turbance signals and improves the signal-to-noise ratio for optimal measurement results.

The MBB1 the only measurement balanced bridge to feature plug-and-play operation. The setup can also be placed on high-voltage potential for test objects on which decoupling in the ground path is not possible. Automated settings allow users to perform setup and measurements quickly and efficiently.

In addition to the new MBB1 measurement balanced bridge, Omicron’s MPD 600 PD measurement and analysis system can be used with a variety of other PD accessories from Omicron to support diverse PD testing applications.
