SICK (UK) has added to its industrial instrumentation product range with the MHF15, a compact optical level sensor switch, designed for robust level monitoring of a range of aqueous fluids.

The FDA-compliant MHF15 is suitable for a variety of applications, including tank level monitoring or dry-running protection for pumps.

Designed to be cost effective, while requiring no calibration and minimal maintenance, the plug-and-play device can be used for overfill protection and low level indication in tanks to monitor the presence or absence of liquids.

A normally open or normally closed transistor output is provided for use as an input to control PLCs or relay modules.

The MHF15’s compact design makes it suitable for difficult installations or conditions with limited space.

Featuring stainless steel housing and polysulfone apex, the switch meets IP67 and IP69K standards, ensuring protection from dust, dirt and water even during a caustic washdown routine.

Ease of mounting and sealing of the vessel is assured due to use of a standard G1/2in process connection complete with NBR seal.

According to SICK, the company’s proven optical technology used in the MHF15 has enabled the creation of a robust yet versatile sensor for point level detection, which can be used with a variety of liquid colours and viscosities, with an emphasis on total reliability and ease of use.

The company claims that, as the MHF15 requires no medium calibration, it is quick to commission and enables significant savings in terms of both time and cost for refit or new installations.

The MHF15 is the latest addition to SICK’s expanding industrial instrumentation product range, which now includes numerous sensor technologies for level, pressure, flow and temperature monitoring.
