Polar Instruments’ latest generation of the GRS500 CADView paperless PCB repair system offers support for 30 popular CAD formats, as well as Windows 7 and 64-bit Windows.

The system also combines dynamic linking to PDF schematics and a Virtual X-Ray mode, and adds a further six CAD formats.

The GRS500 CADView system provides a single, powerful viewer that enables OEM and CEM repair centres to carry out advanced troubleshooting of faults in raw or assembled PCBs,’ said Martyn Gaudion, chief executive officer of Polar.

‘By replacing paper schematics with a virtual system the fault-finding and repair process becomes significantly easier and faster,’ he said.

Displaying only the faulty net, the Virtual X-ray superimposes the main layer onto the ghosted path of the net as it passes through the PCB, allowing technicians to visually follow the route of a faulty net as it disappears and reappears through different PCB layers.

A single mouse click takes the technician from the X-ray view of the fault to the corresponding point on a PDF of the schematic, viewed with the latest Adobe Reader.

Dynamic linking eliminates manual searches of hard-copy paper schematics.

A range of licensing options provides the flexibility for OEMs and CEMs to find the most cost-effective licence for their usage level.
