The M-810 miniature hexapod from Physik Instrumente (PI) is suitable for precision manufacturing, the high-precision placement of parts, the alignment of optical components and lasers, microscopy and neuroscience.

The unit provides motion in six degrees of freedom and offers high stiffness, a six-axis controller with a freely definable virtual pivot point, linear and rotary multi-axis scans and parallel kinematics.

According to the company, parallel kinematic systems offer a number of advantages, including a virtual pivot point, rotation around any point, one moving platform (resulting in no accumulation of guiding and lever-arm errors), no moving cables, a smaller package size and smaller motors and encoders. They also include a controller and software.

The M-810 is compatible with PI’s hexapod controller, which is supported by Windows and includes a library of drivers and programming examples.

The company also offers simulation tools for hexapod integration.
