There are still places available on some of the professional courses to be held at the Profibus International Competence Centre at Manchester Metropolitan University.

For example, the Certified Profibus Installer course, to be held 7 September, teaches electrical engineers and technicians how to install fieldbus.

This one-day hands-on course teaches the design, installation and testing of complete Profibus networks, including DP, PA and optical fibre technology.

Covering bus layout and termination, grounding rules and practices, the course will teach delegates how to avoid common but potentially expensive installation problems.

The Certified Profibus Engineer course, held from 8-11 September, is suitable for engineers and technicians with a thorough basic technical knowledge of Profibus or other fieldbus systems.

The course covers the detailed theory of Profibus DP and PA network operation.

The course describes how to design, install and troubleshoot Profibus networks, how to use diagnostic tools to detect faults and identify their causes.

The first day covers the Certified Profibus Installer course, which is a prerequisite to completing the Profibus Engineer course.

Those that pass the final written examination and practical test will gain a valuable and internationally recognised certificate as to their competence to design and trouble-shoot Profibus networks.

Graduates of the course can also have their name listed in the Certified Profibus Engineer section of the Profibus website.

All courses will be presented at the Profibus International Competence Centre at Manchester Metropolitan University.
