The PNOZS30 speed monitor from Pilz Automation Technology has been designed to monitor safe standstill, over-speed and direction of rotation in machinery in industries such as packaging, paper mills and web-based printing.

Additional applications for the speed monitor include robotics, woodworking machinery, steel processing mills, buffer zones and conveyor systems, kneading, mixing and filling machines and hygiene-critical processes.

The PNOZS30 — which forms part of Pilz’s PNOZsigma range — can be connected to motor feedback systems that use incremental encoders or proximity sensors to provide a speed signal.

The monitor’s permanent display informs users about the current speed during machine operation, while integrated LCDs show the state of the output relay.

The PNOZS30 offers a range of safety functions, including standstill monitoring combined with safe position monitoring at standstill.

Key information

  • Rotary knob with key function and integrated display enable users to enter data using an intuitive menu structure; any limit values defined by the user can be given a warning threshold
  • The device can be used for the safe monitoring of maximum speed in combination with the safe detection of the direction of rotation
  • It can also monitor process-related speeds or movements combined with the safe direction of rotation
  • PNOZS30 includes selectable inputs for incremental encoders and proximity sensors
  • It also features separate programmable safety-related relay output contacts, auxiliary semiconductor outputs and restart and safe-off position feedback circuit inputs
  • The device holds all the necessary approvals and Pilz can provide all the relevant, safety-related characteristic data for the PNOZS30
