Procter’s Angel modular machine guarding system is suitable for factories applying lean manufacturing principles where there is often a need to rearrange the production facility to eliminate waste.

The Angel system is offered with a range of standard components, although customised components can also be specified for delivery in a matter of days.

The system is designed to be attractive and to enhance the visual appearance of the working environment.

The company claims that, unlike other perimeter guarding systems, Angel provides complete design freedom in that guarding can be configured to suit any machine or factory layout.

This is because the fencing panels can be manufactured to any size and the use of round posts means that panels can be fixed at any angle – not just straight or at right angles.

Patented Universal Brackets enable multiple panels to be attached to a single post, which gives greater scope for creating the ideal guarding configuration or combination of guarding and partitioning for other areas such as stores or quarantines.

Panel bracketry is concealed behind fascia plates that give a clean appearance, with no fasteners visible form the outside.

Panels can be removed quickly for access during maintenance operations; depending on the size of the panel and the infill material used, this can be done singlehandedly.

As well as specifying the panel height and width, customers can choose the infill material (sheet steel, welded wire mesh, polycarbonate or a combination of these) and there is a choice or hinged, sliding (tracked or cantilevered) or rise-and-fall gates in any size and with the customer’s choice of infill.

Virtually any access control system can be used with the gates and these can be installed by Procter’s fitters, a system integrator or the customer.

All Angel products are supplied in a durable polyester powder-coated finish, with the standard colours being yellow, satin black, gloss black and metallic charcoal grey.

Alternatively, customers can specify colours to suit the corporate or factory colour scheme or to identify different production areas.

Standard components are generally available for delivery within five working days and customised components can usually be delivered within the same timescale.

An Angel system is said to be simple to specify; all that the advisors require is a dimensioned sketch plan of the machine footprint, with notes about the desired guard height or distance from the machine, the type of infill, the finish and other customer-specific requirements.

From this, the Angel advisors will prepare a computer-aided-design drawing of the layout, complete with a bill of materials, from which a fixed-price quotation can be prepared.
