Skeleton-free processing is a new feature on the Trupunch 5000 and the new-generation Trupunch 3000 machines.

This processing method relies on common slit cuts that are achieved without increased programming, as every possible geometric configuration is resident in the software.

This enables the sheet layout to be optimised and prepares for the necessary ‘release strokes’.

The parts are initially processed in sequence and then freely punched prior to discharge and removal.

Parts or scrap are rotated using a separating tool with a bi-level stripper for ejection via the parts chute.

The remaining strips are then crushed.

The processing time per part remains the same as before, but the development enhances process reliability and cost efficiency.

A key benefit of skeleton-free processing is an increase in material usage by 10 per cent.

The development is also space saving because peripheral equipment responsible for scrap cutting and disposal is no longer required, so areas occupied by scissor tables, sheet skeleton pallets and removal grippers can now be used for other production equipment.

Any scrap is shredded directly on the machine and collected with any metal slugs on the scrap conveyor for disposal in a single bin.
