Quadrant has launched a range of food-compliant thermoplastic stock shape products that conforms to the 2002/72/EC, 1935/2004 and 2023/2006 regulation frameworks.

The new food-grade range addresses the latest amendments to the European Union-wide regulation relating to the food contact compliancy of materials including plastics.

This demands a declaration of compliancy not only in terms of raw material composition, but also that the various materials should present measured migration limits depending on the foodstuff they will come into contact with, the duration of contact and the temperature under which it will be used.

The new range is based on the company’s migration limit tests and offers customers time savings on their application-specific testing and the advantage of traceability along the entire value chain as well as control of the production process following Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).

It also ensures the maximum hygiene and non-contamination of foodstuffs that come into contact with Quadrant’s materials.

The food-grade range consists of engineering plastics from several series, including Nylatron, Acetron, Ertacetal, Ertalyte, Ketron, TIVAR and Techtron.

These products are suitable for machined parts used in equipment for producing, processing or packaging foodstuffs, convenience goods and beverages that are in contact with food goods.

Additional food grades are being developed from Quadrant’s portfolio of engineering plastics in order to meet future market needs.
