NL Machine Tool Consulting has reported that Rosa Ermando is to exhibit its Linea R46 grinding machine with digital linear motors at Grindtec on 17-20 March.

The Linea R46 grinding machine is said to offer new structural concepts and a heavy cast-iron structure.

The main highlight is the table drive, through a digital linear motor.

The use of this technology is said to reduce the reversing table times, permits a table feed >65m/min and allows reductions in total production time, with increased productivity.

The electro-spindle has a HSK B125 coupling, enabling reduced wheel-change time and reaching speeds of >6,000rev/min with a power range between 7.5 and 25kW.

The R46 is able to handle a single part job, small batches to big series, with the possibility to grind in unmanned (night shift).

The CNC control unit is a Siemens Sinumerik 840 DiE with the easy-to-use software interface Rosa System VII.

Programming the machine is said to be easy thanks to the software macros, which also allow the use of the machine for an operator coming from a conventional grinder background.

The R46 makes it possible to grind in a conventional longitudinal grinding cycle, creep-feed mode, realise convex/concave profile on the longitudinal as well as the transversal axes.
