RDP Electronics has announced that its low-profile DR7AC DIN rail-mounted amplifiers are designed to provide excitation and signal amplification for LVDTs and other inductive transducers.

The DR7DC strain-gauge amplifier version is compatible with most full-bridge strain-gauge transducers.

The DR7AC and DR7DC are compactly packaged for DIN rail mounting, offering particular benefit to systems integrators and machine builders.

System engineering and earth-loop problems are reduced due to full isolation between the DC supply side (9-36V) and the amplified output with low noise levels.

Offering transducer excitation options of 1 or 3V RMS, at either 3kHz or 5kHz carrier signal excitation, there is a choice of full-range output of either +/- 10V or 4~20mA from switched selectable input signal levels ranging from 20mV to 4V RMS.

The DR7AC and DR7DC amplifiers offer good thermal stability, with a dynamic response that is flat from static to 250Hz.

Due to their range of supply capability, both models can operate from a range of supplies that includes batteries, road vehicle supplies as well as the usual factory 24V supply.

RDP Electronics – experts in measurement solutions

Measurement experts RDP Electronics Ltd have 45 years experience in developing transducers for a diverse range of applications in research, prototype testing, industrial plant and machinery, or embodied in products. Examples are numerous, spanning industries that include aerospace, automotive, structural engineering and power generation. The company is responsible for the development and manufacture of a comprehensive programmme of transducer products and associated electronics to recognised international standards for accurate and reliable measurement of displacement, load, pressure and torque. Often the best solutions have a simple elegance that is possible thanks in part to the quality and high reliability of the transducers they supply. Because of their knowledge and expertise RDP’s skilled engineering team is frequently invited to propose solutions to measurement challenges.

RDP Design, manufacture and market a wide range of LVDT and other displacement transducers. LVDT Displacement transducers accurately measure position and displacement. The strength of the LVDT is in its principle of operation. As LVDT sensors are inductive, there is no electrical connection across the sensing element ensuring clean data and a long life.

The LVDT operation principle lends itself to use in extreme environments. LVDTs can be made to work submerged in sea water, in temperatures of 600°C (1100°F) in high nuclear ratiation and at pressures of up to 2000bar (30,000psi).
