For a limited time, Endress and Hauser is offering its Absorption Starter Kit — which includes a Memograph CVM40 transmitter with a OUSAF11 sensor — for a reduced price of £2,900. The kit, which normally retails at more than £3,600, is suitable for dairy and brewing applications.

The sensor uses simple absorbance measurement according to the Beer Lambert Law. Absorbance of the light by particles in the milk means that the more solids the water contains, the less light gets through to the detector. As such, the absorbance/transmittance measurements are directly proportional to the milk in the process stream.

The special offer, which ends on 28 June 2013, is based on a single-channel panel-mounted Memograph M CVM40 and a OUSAF11 sensor with a 3m cable and 2in (5cm) Triclamp connection. The discount is based on standard list prices and excludes all other discount agreements.

Typical applications

  • Detection of unintended product losses in effluent streams

Brewery

  • Beer-water interface possible for cloudy wheat beers
  • Yeast detection in effluent
