The Resolute absolute encoder from Renishaw has been used by German company Amicra Nova in the production of micro assembly cells.

The encoders have enabled Amicra’s mechatronic engineers to improve their machines considerably, according to Renishaw.

The measuring system detects the absolute position immediately at switch-on, without a reference run.

This means the micro assembly cells can start their automated cycle quicker, without relying on the operator’s vigilance, following a stoppage or on commissioning for the first time.

  • Combined with a built-in position-checking algorithm, the encoder has high immunity to contamination — Amicra’s machines have recorded zero stoppages on account of reading errors of the measuring system caused by dirty measuring tapes.
