Tregaskiss has launched the Tough Gun robotic water-cooled MIG gun, which is capable of withstanding the harsh environments common to high-amperage welding applications.

The MIG gun is designed to maximise productivity when welding thick plate and/or operating for prolonged duty cycles.

Featuring a high-flow gooseneck with four cooling channels and a water-cooled power cable, the Tough Gun robotic water-cooled MIG gun provides excellent cooling capacity to the front-end consumables to help extend their service life and allow for longer periods of welding.

The MIG gun also features a sturdy stainless-steel docking body and a durable conduit that swivels independently to provide rigid support for the liner, to ensure smooth, consistent wire feeding and to minimise downtime for maintenance.

The Tough Gun robotic water-cooled MIG gun has an accessible front housing, quick-change fittings and replaceable components, all of which support greater productivity by lessening the time needed to care for the gun.

The MIG gun uses Tregaskiss’s Common Consumable Platform based on its Tough Lock contact tips and Quick Load liners.

These products are common across Tregaskiss semi-automatic, automatic and robotic MIG guns, allowing users of multiple styles of guns to simplify and reduce their overall inventory of welding consumables.

The robotic MIG gun provides 600A welding capacity at 100 per cent duty cycle with CO2 shielding gas or 60 per cent duty cycle when welding with mixed gases.

Research and development testing and extensive field trials carried out by Tregaskiss have shown the new MIG gun is ideal for demanding welding applications such as thick-plate welding, which is common in the heavy-equipment manufacturing industry.

As of 31 December 2010, the MIG gun will replace the company’s existing Tough Gun quick-change water-cooled (QCWC) and keyed water-cooled (KWC) robotic MIG guns.
