Rofin has introduced a laser series for high-speed micro material processing applications, with a special focus on photovoltaic manufacturing.

With its new Powerline L series, the company has introduced q-switched solid-state lasers specifically designed for micro material processing applications, which require high average power and high pulse energy.

Examples include thin-film removal on glass and flexible materials, the ablation of dielectric layers, silicon processing and drilling and cutting operations.

In the 1,064nm class, the Powerline L 300 completes Rofin’s laser range for edge deletion applications.

Compared with the company’s DQ series, which offers 500W to 1,000W, the Powerline L 300 features more than 200W laser power at 10kHz with smaller optical fibres and an optimised 400-micron square fibre.

Compared with round fibres, square fibres provide efficiency by machining a larger area per pulse.

Standard configuration includes a fibre delivery to the processing head.
