Excelsys Technologies has released conformally coated versions of its Xgen user-configurable power supply range that are ideal for commercial off-the-shelf and military applications.

These ruggedised versions of the Excelsys Xgen series have been extensively Halt tested for resistance to shock and vibration and characterised over their extended operating temperature range.

Offering a power density of 17W/in3 and efficiencies of 90 per cent in a 1U package, the Xgen series provides power solutions from 200W to 1,450W.

Excelsys Xgen power supplies are available with temperature ratings of -20C to +70C, low operating noise versions, medical approvals and in ruggedised and conformal coatings for extreme industrial installations.

Output voltages may be specified from a number of Powermods, including nominal output voltages of 2.5V, 5.0V, 12.0V, 24.0V, 48.0V and 24/24V.

As all modules are isolated, polarity is user selectable and modules may be configured in series or parallel for higher output voltages or current.

The Excelsys Xgen series features a universal input range of 85-264VAC and over-voltage protection.

All possible configurations carry full safety agency approvals (UL60950 and EN60950) and are CE marked.

‘All versions of our Xgen configurable power supply family can now be conformally coated as an option, making it suitable for naval applications or applications in harsh environments including military,’ said Dermot Flynn, director of sales at Excelsys Technologies.

Excelsys products combine low-loss technologies, planar magnetics and surface-mount assembly to ensure ultra-high efficiency and reduced system thermal load – more than 50 per cent less than in conventional designs.

Typical applications for the conformally coated versions of the Excelsys Xgen power supply range include vehicle- and ship-based communication and IT systems, industrial control systems and test and measurement equipment.
