Thanks to the Nickel Oxide-based New Platform (NNP) technology, the NCR18650 and NCR18650A types achieve capacities of 2.9Ah and 3.1Ah respectively.

At the same time, special Heat Resistant Layer (HRL) technology ensures safety.

The heart of the battery is a nickel-based positive electrode measuring 18mm in diameter and 65mm in length.

This is the standard size for various mobile applications.

The electrode has been patented on behalf of Panasonic and enables very high capacities to be achieved.

In addition, the material and process technology prevent an alloy negative electrode deforming with repeated charging.

This enables the new reduced-weight batteries to achieve high capacities of 2.9Ah and 3.1Ah respectively and corresponding energy densities of 620Wh/litre (NCR18650) and 675Wh/litre (NCR18650A).

Additional features include high cycle stability and excellent charging behaviour as well as a good storage capability thanks to very low self discharge.
