SICK will showcase its LMS 100 laser sensors and the RFH620, the latest addition to its radio-frequency identification (RFID) range, at Drives and Controls 2010 at the NEC in Birmingham on 8-10 June.

According to the company, which will be found on Stand D3612, the LMS ensures accuracy for security, safety and presence detection, both indoors and outdoors.

The SICK LMS 100 series comprises compact laser sensors with a short-to-medium distance measurement range of up to 18m and 270deg-wide detection fields with 0.5deg object detection.

The laser sensors eliminate the need for transmitter/sensor pairs and expensive associated wiring, are said to be simple to mount and set up on site and can be precisely configured for up to 10 defined fields.

Double-pulse evaluation technology enables the LMS 100 sensors to eliminate distracting minor beam reflections such as rain or fine water spray, or dust on the sensor surface, and can even be mounted behind glass.

The self-contained RFH620 RFID sensor for intra-logistics offers the same look and feel as a barcode reader, according to SICK.

The parameterisation, operation and communication functions of this scanner are implemented using Sopas software.

The RFH620 delivers high transmission rates; it can achieve ranges of up to 16cm and rapid signal and data processing enabling speeds of 3m/s.
