SICK’s PHT hygienic pressure transmitter series offers pressure detection for accurate process control and plant protection.

It is suitable for food and beverage, pharmaceutical and cosmetic manufacturing applications.

Launched as a flagship product of SICK’s Industrial Instrument Division at PPMA 2009, the PHT series includes absolute, gauge and compound pressure measurement.

The sanitary design features a flush-mounted 316L (1.4435) stainless-steel diaphragm, free of gaps and dead spaces.

Darren Pratt, SICK (UK) product specialist, said: ‘The PHT will withstand high-pressure steam with temperatures to 150C and regular cleaning with harsh detergents.

Ingress protection to IP67 and IP68 makes sure of a long, reliable life.’ The PHT series covers low-pressure applications from 0 to 0.25 bar, such as hydrostatic levels in storage vessels to 0 to 25 bar for fluid filling and pumping duties.

Hygiene process connections include Tri-clamp, DIN 11851 / 11864, ISO-clamp, NUEMO Bioconnect/Biocontrol and Varivent connections, with EHEDG certification and 3-A Sanitary Standards pending.

The smooth, 0.4um finish to the high-grade, stainless-steel wetted surfaces allow cleaning and the transmitter fill fluid is FDA compliant.

The range has over 10,000 possible variants and will suit virtually any plant configuration.

A selection of electrical outputs is available to match a customer’s control system, including 4-20mA, 0-10V and 0-5V.

Wiring options include an M12 connector, standard cable exit and right-angled spade connector (DIN 175301-803A).
