Sierra Instruments is offering a digital gas mass flow controller designed to meet the low-cost requirements of OEMs.

The Smart-Trak 50 Series builds on the same core sensor, LFE and valve technology found in the Smart-Trak 100 Series.

The 50 Series has a standard accuracy of +/-1.5 per cent of full scale.

The direct-acting control valve minimises leak-by, while offering a 300ms response time to setpoint changes at +/-0.25 per cent repeatability.

In contrast to the many wetted parts of CMOS and MEMS flow sensors, Sierra uses its most advanced 316L stainless-steel platinum-wound capillary sensor technology for mass flow control for almost any clean gas.

As a result, the 50 Series shares the same sensor as the Smart-Trak 100 Series, while incorporating a slightly varied valve and laminar flow element design originating from the first Smart-Trak device.

Other features include: local display and digital setpoint control with optional analogue setpoint/output signals; RS-232 interface that connects with the PLC or workstation (user software and communication cables supplied); RS-485 (addressable); dual I/O DB9 com ports for installation flexibility; field adjustable zero and span; and a small footprint.
