Kistler Instruments has introduced a range of low-cost single-axis accelerometers for applications such as modal analysis and seismic measurement.

The new Type 8640A IEPE (Integrated Electronics Piezo Electric) sensors use the patented Piezobeam technology to provide an excellent sensitivity-to-size ratio.

The accelerometers are available in three ranges – 5g, 10g and 50g – for accurate measurements in the frequency range from 0.5Hz to 5,000Hz.

The bimorph piezoceramic sensing element with built-in temperature compensation is combined with an integrated Piezotron charge converter compatible with most current line drive front-end systems.

The excellent low noise and low interference ensure a very high resolution of up to 140ug.

The cube-shaped titanium body of the accelerometers is hermetically sealed and facilitates mounting in any position using adhesives or wax to attach the sensor to the test surface.

A hole-tapped 5-49 UNC provides for clip and stud mounting where robust, physical mounting is needed.

With excellent bandwidth, phase accuracy and shock survivability, the accelerometers are ideal for use in single-input, multiple-output (SIMO) or multiple-input, multiple-output (MIMO) modal analysis, operational modal analysis and seismic monitoring applications.
