Solid State Supplies announces the availability of the W4000 series of GPS active antennas from Pulse.

These oval-shaped antennas have a profile of 5.45mm.

Designed for in-vehicle mounting, each antenna can be positioned on the dashboard or window without concerns about orientation.

Pulse GPS antennas combine a Pulse ceramic chip antenna with a low-noise amplifier (LNA) resulting in an antenna profile that’s more than 50 per cent thinner than standard GPS antennas while still maintaining a high level of performance, according to the company.

These antennas receive, amplify and filter GPS signals for telematics applications such as in-car infotainment, navigation and location, intelligent vehicle safety, fleet management and tracking, asset monitoring, risk management and pay-as-you-drive insurance applications.

The W4000 GPS antennas are 5.45mm high and 50mm x 30mm at the widest point of the oval.

They operate at 1,575.42MHz and 3V to 5V, with a maximum gain of 1.5dB isotropic and 28dB with an LNA of 1dB noise figure.

The antennas are supplied with 5m of RG-174 cable and come in four models with a variety of connectors: the W4000L197 has an FME male straight connector; the W4000J197 has an MCX male straight connector; the W4000G197 has an SMA male straight connector; and the W4000D197 has an MMCX male straight connector.

The antennas are individually packaged with double-sided tape for easy installation.

The antenna can be installed with either side facing up.

As a result, only one antenna is required for glass or dashboard mount, making installation simple.
