A static ground monitoring and interlock system for containers that monitors the dangers posed by static electricity is now approved to Factory Mutual (FM) in addition to ATEX standards.

The Earth-Rite FIBC (Flexible Intermediate Bulk Container) grounding system constantly monitors Type C flexible containers (big bags), ensuring that anti-static earth connections for each container are within the correct specification and are achieving a positive ground connection to safely dissipate static electricity.

The interlock design will allow product transfer only when the resistance through the container is within the recommended resistance range.

Should unacceptable readings be registered, an alarm signal LED is activated and the system remains inoperable, ensuring that safe operating procedures are followed.

While Type C FIBC filling or discharging applications are most typical, the system can also be used to monitor other containers with similar materials such as static dissipative drums, linings, kegs, hoses and so on.

To complement the Earth-Rite FIBC, a selection of special FM and ATEX-approved grounding clamps are available with design features to make them compatible with flexible or semi-rigid semi-conductive materials.

Since the Earth-Rite FIBC system is approved Intrinsically Safe by FM (Class I, II, III; Div 1 and 2; Groups A,B,C,D,E,F,G) and ATEX (EX II 1 GD EEx ia IIC T4), it is suitable for use in practically all environments where flammable, combustible or explosive atmospheres are present.

Units are available in 110/120V or 220/240V power supply options, with NEMA 4X/IP65 water and dust-tight enclosures.

The Earth-Rite FIBC static grounding system is part of a wide range of static grounding and bonding equipment available from Newson Gale.

For over 25 years, Newson Gale has been in the business of protecting people and assets from the hazards of static electricity.

Newson Gale serves industries where processes that generate significant amounts of static electricity have the potential to ignite flammable or explosive atmospheres. The major industries served are:

-chemical/petrochemical manufacturing and distribution.

-pharmaceutical/clean room processes.

-paints,coatings and solvents manufacturing and distribution.

-food and beverage production and distribution.

Newson Gale’s commitment to research and innovation has led to the creation of patented industry firsts that optimise the safety of people and protection of plant assets.

Our solutions are divided into three flexible product categories that are specified for customers depending on the level of safety required to protect people and plant assets from the flammable/explosive hazard. The three categories are described as:

Earth-Rite:continuous static dissipative monitoring with positive indication and interlock control outputs.

Bond-Rite:continuous static dissipative monitoring with positive indication.

Cen-Stat:mechanical earthing and bonding devices and hazardous area accessories.

Depending on the country specification, our equipment carries ATEX,FM,IECEx and SIL2 hazardous area approvals and are fully compliant with internationally recognised best practise standards for controlling static electricity
