Fraser Anti-Static Techniques has launched the 1250-S static eliminator bar that is claimed to resolve quality issues during inkjet date coding.

Static electricity causes severe problems throughout the packaging industry, including wrapping, printing and labelling.

Coding and marketing are two of the biggest areas.

Many types of product are marked, including plastics bottles and containers, cans, food, consumer goods, confectionary, toys, IT equipment and more.

The static charge on plastics products, products wrapped in plastic film can distort the ink pattern that comes out of the printing head.

This causes rejected products due to incorrect or unreadable marking.

It can also form an electrostatic discharge, which can damage the electronics in the print head and prove costly to replace.

Fraser said these problems can be overcome by installing a 1250-S bar above the product before it reaches the printing head.

The 1250-S bar can be positioned up to 100mm from the smallest product to accommodate variations in product size.

The static charge is neutralised by the ionised air produced by the bar, therefore when the product reaches the date coder there is no static interference to affect the printing process.

The result is a clean, clear print with no risk of electronic damage to the printing head; reducing costs by cutting reject stock and eliminating the risk of costly damage to the printing head electronics.
