Supreme 3HT-80 adhesive from Master Bond cures in 30 minutes at 175°F

By Master Bond on 15th July 201315th December 2015

Product Details Supplier Info More products

Supreme 3HT-80 from Master Bond is a one-component, heat-curing epoxy adhesive that bonds well to substrates including metals, composites, glass, ceramics, vulcanised rubbers and many plastics. Applications for the system are found in the aerospace, electronics, electro-optic and speciality OEM industries.

The adhesive is said to offer excellent physical strength properties and toughness. It has a curing temperature of 170–175°F (76–79°C). At this temperature, Supreme 3HT-80 will cure in 20–30 minutes and at 250°F it will cure in 10–15 minutes. Optimal properties are obtained by curing at 250°F.

No mixing is required prior to use and working life is unlimited. Unlike premixed and frozen systems, which require special low-temperature storage, Supreme 3HT-80 can be stored in conventional refrigerators. The shelf life of the adhesive when stored in a refrigerator at 40–50°F is a minimum of three months and a maximum of six months.

Supreme 3HT-80 forms high-strength bonds in both shear and peel modes. Its toughness is said to confer nimble thermal cycling capabilities, as well as resistance to vibration and shock. It is 100 per cent reactive and does not contain any diluents or solvents.

The adhesive withstands chemicals including water, oil and many types of fuels. The cured system is an excellent electrical insulator. It is serviceable over the wide temperature range of -100°F to +350°F. The standard colour is off-white but other colours are available, as is a non-drip version (Supreme 3HT-80ND-2).
