Nexcom has launched the MRC 2300, an economical and durable 8in tablet PC designed for mobile computing applications within industrial, field service, medical, logistics and point-of-sale markets.

MRC 2300 is equipped with a 2megapixel colour camera, built-in 1D/2D barcode scanner, RFID interface and on-board GPS.

The tablet PC is equipped with Bluetooth v2.1, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, and has WWAN support for GSM/GPRS/HSDPA/WCDMA.

Utilising LED backlight TFT technology, MRC 2300 is equipped with a reliable five-wire touch screen, which provides good endurance and fast response times.

The tablet PC is designed for use in harsh environments and has been rigorously tested to MIL-STD-810F and IP54 standards.

It is housed in a well-protected rubber case that can withstand drops up to 4ft and operate in temperatures ranging from -20C to 50C.

Based on Intel’s latest energy efficient Intel Atom N450 1.6GHz 667MHz FSB CPU, MRC 2300 measures 280 x 205 x 37mm with its protective rubber cladding and weighs 1.44kg.

Operation is via stylus, touch, or a PDA-style five-way navigation ring.

There are also four programmable function buttons that can be used to perform tasks or bring up applications.

With its rugged IP54-rated design, camera, USB ports, RFID interfaces and 1D/2D barcode scanner, MRC 2300 will find applications within data collection, image recognition and navigation.
