American Industrial Systems (AIS) has launched a rugged mobile data terminal PC for mobile automation, communication and terminal to industrial, utility and commercial environments.

The PC features military rated environmental engineering compliance for harsh environments and ISO 7637 compliance.

The mobile digital computers are powered by the Intel Atom processor, built for low-power, high-performance and efficient operation.

The tablet PC has a practical design featuring an aluminium-magnesium alloy construction with individually sealed ports for complete IP54 waterproof and dustproof protection.

The unit is engineered to Military 810F shock, vibration, temperature, humidity, dust and drop standards to withstand extreme mobile applications.

The mobile terminals have a built-in touch screen, providing a human-machine interface (HMI) in the field.

Additionally, the tablet PCs come with an integrated lithium-ion battery, enabling it to be used on the go and in outdoor environments.

By utilising high-brightness and transreflective technology, AIS said it can provide optimum visibility in direct sunlight conditions where standard tablets would fail.

The ergonomically designed handheld rugged tablet PC features programmable buttons and HMI touch-screen technology for quick and easy navigation.

Staying connected is simple with integrated 802.11b/g WiFi and Bluetooth modules, which allow easy connection to wireless networks and Bluetooth devices without the need for external hardware.

Where a wireless internet connection in a non-WiFi enabled area is required, the unit has an integrated PCMCIA slot to allow the addition of wireless modems and third-party devices such as GPS.
