Technicut has invested in eight universal grinding machines from Anca after being impressed with their value aspect.

Based in Sheffield, UK, Technicut designs and manufactures optimised rotary tooling solutions for the aerospace industry.

The company’s tooling solutions are used throughout the world to machine steel, aluminium, titanium, nickel-based super alloys, composites and a wide range of other exotic materials, within the demanding sectors of aerostructures, airframe and aeroengine manufacturing.

Technicut operates a total tooling service philosophy, by offering its global customer base a complete tooling ‘lifecycle’ concept, full technical engineering support and the provision and management of integrated tooling supply and productivity solutions.

Through a philosophy of working in partnership with its customers, Technicut is able to provide optimum solutions to the most difficult of tooling problems.

To keep pace with the global demand for the company’s products, Technicut recently expanded its UK operations with the completion of the multi-million pound Oakes Green, Sheffield production facility.

The 45,000ft2 factory adds to Technicut’s current UK capacity and provides the company with more than 75,000ft2 of production facilities, dedicated to the manufacture of optimised rotary cutting tool technologies.

Technicut’s new facility gives the company the additional capacity required for the long-term expansion of the business, in line with its ambitious strategic growth objectives.

A key aspect of Technicut’s recent capital investment plan was the purchase of four Anca TX7+ and four Anca RX7 universal grinding machines.

Having examined the many alternatives, Technicut’s manufacturing director, Mark Kirby, and his team decided to invest in the eight Anca universal grinders.

Kirby said: ‘Although we have been a user of ANCA machines for a number of years, mindful of the magnitude of our investment and the technical advancements made by other makes of grinders, we carefully examined the many available options.

‘As was the case when we made our original Anca purchase, we found that the Anca machines best met our demanding specifications.

‘Our new machine purchases mean that we now have a total of 20 Anca machines.

‘We have found that the TX7+ and RX7+ models are proving ideal for the manufacturing and reconditioning of a wide spectrum of high-precision cutting tools.’ Anca’s automatic wheel changer enables up to eight grinding wheels to be used in one set-up.

The wide variety of workholding and support tooling is able to meet all specific needs at Technicut, while efficient machine utilisation is achieved with the help of increased unattended operation.
