Tetra Pak has launched a one-litre aseptic carton bottle, which is initially aimed at the ambient white milk market.

According to the company, the new Tetra Evero Aseptic combines the easy handling and pouring of a bottle with the environmental and cost advantages of a carton.

The aseptic carton bottle can be used for non-oxygen-sensitive milk enriched with calcium, proteins, fibres (inulin), vitamins A and D and some minerals.

The offering will soon be expanded to cover a range of beverages, including flavoured milk, cream and oxygen-sensitive milk.

Spanish dairy producer Corporacion Alimentaria Penasanta (CAPSA) has already chosen the Tetra Evero Aseptic for its move into the value-added ambient dairy segment.

Meanwhile, German dairy company Weihenstephan plans to introduce the carton bottle from the end of May 2011 to a select number of retail outlets in its first market test of the package.

The Tetra Evero Aseptic is claimed to bring convenience and added confidence to consumers thanks to its one-step opening and two-step safety feature.

An ergonomic cylindrical shape with flat side panels means it is easier for big and small hands to hold, added Tetra Pak.

The shape also enables better pouring than other bottles, according to independent consumer research conducted in several European markets.

The new carton bottle is designed to provide maximum branding impact, with printing possible across the whole surface of the package.

There are two distribution solutions for the Tetra Evero Aseptic – an open cardboard tray and film-shrink with a handle.

The Tetra Pak Evero Aseptic keeps milk for up to six months.

The Tetra Pak A6 Iline for the Tetra Evero Aseptic brings dairy producers a cost-effective and efficient packaging solution for ambient white milk in a bottle.

According to the company, the Tetra Pak A6 Iline, with a capacity of 10,000 packs per hour, takes up to 50 per cent less space and requires 30 per cent less investment than other aseptic bottling lines.

It also offers 25 per cent lower operating costs and requires half the electricity consumption of other aseptic bottling lines.

The Tetra Evero Aseptic is recyclable and is made from FSC-certified renewable paperboard.

The Tetra Evero Aseptic and the Tetra Pak A6 Iline are covered by 14 design and application patents, with advances that include a ‘gas phase’ sterilisation technique and advanced injection moulding technologies to fuse the top, the carton sleeve and the capped neck into a ready-to-fill package.

The Tetra Pak A6 Iline will initially be available in Europe and South America.
