Tetra Pak is launching its Tetra Therm Aseptic Drink, a cost-efficient and flexible unit for processing a range of beverages.

In addition to self diagnostics, the pasteuriser – which is suitable for juices and nectars, still drinks, tea drinks and enhanced water, including ‘wellness’ drinks – includes a range of automation features.

The units automatically identify deviations in process parameters and provide automatic notification of every maintenance requirement.

The pasteuriser is also compatible with the Tetra Plantmaster control system, enabling additional intelligence functions such as full traceability with unit history, batch control and review of all previous actions.

A balance tank, heat exchangers and deaerators reduce water and energy consumption as well as product loss.

Energy consumption is further cut due to improved energy recovery through double hot water circuits.

In addition to Tetra Therm Aseptic Drink pasteurisers, Tetra Vertenso production solutions comprise technology for a range of beverage processing needs, such as heat treatment, mixing and blending.

The closed cooling circuit in the deaerator and closed water system for the vacuum pump reduce water consumption by up to 80 per cent, while improved heat recovery and efficient heat transfer through a double hot water circuit in the tubular heat exchanger can reduce energy consumption by up to 30 per cent.

Product losses are reduced by up to 30 per cent due to the vessel and valve design and a product-return recovery system in which the product in the return pipe is pushed back into the balance tank when it is time to stop production.

Futher product losses are made through the improved mix-phase control, in which instrumentation measures product changeover.
