Thomson’s friction clutch and brake models catalogue features devices for a range of applications including traction and lift drives for forklift trucks, vehicle door systems and equipment for lifting patients and operations within the aerospace industry.

Friction brakes and clutches use two parallel shafts that are linked via electromagnetic pulleys, gear wheels or rollers and work on the principle of a connection between the motor and the load. Two different types are available: working breaks and electro-release brakes.

Both versions are applied and released using spring pressure and provide an electrically switchable way to stop and/or hold loads.

The catalogue provides detailed descriptions of individual products, along with examples of practical applications, illustrations of the principles of operation and a guide to selecting the right technology for specific applications.
