Totech Super Dry has introduced an MSD handling process to dry components at faster speeds.

The process is also claimed to function without the oxidation problems associated with traditional baking.

Designed to exceed the challenges associated with IPC/JEDEC J-STD-033B.1 for the handling of MSDs, the new XSD Series of desiccant cabinets offer performance features never before available that reportedly reduce device drying times by as much as 75 per cent.

At IPC APEX EXPO (booth 234), Totech will display its Zeolite drying unit in the XSD Series that achieves levels less than 0.5 per cent relative humidity (RH).

This is combined with an integrated precision heating system that, with a stable profile, is intended to combat the oxidation inherent in traditional component baking.

Since the temperatures utilised are relatively low, even taped reels can be effectively dried without damage to the tape.

The XSD Series cabinets are insulated, consume a fraction of the energy of baking or vacuum ovens and are equipped with a host of additional features, including precision measurement, 24/7 data logging and an ergonomic touch-screen operator interface.
